The Department of Medicine has initiated a Clinical Research Review Committee headed by Associate Chair of Research, Dr. Dominic Chow, to review all research projects initiated by or with JABSOM Dept of Medicine faculty (including medical students, and medicine residents and fellows). The objectives are two-fold: 1) lend the expertise of experienced researchers to ensure a strong study design and 2) assist with IRB proposals. This effort is not an attempt at micromanaging clinical research in the UH DOM but to help ensure the success of research projects and decreasing the work the IRB by improving IRB proposals. Please see Research Review Committee process below.
Research team presents an abstract (1-page total or 5 powerpoint slides) to the committee.
The abstract should include: (1) Introduction including Statement of Need/Problem, (2) Hypothesis (-es), (3) Specific Aims to test hypothesis(-es), (4) Anticipated Results, (5) Authorship / Mentor(s), (6) Discussion of IRB requirements
