Statement from the Interim Vice Provost for Academic Excellence

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce that Mānoa will be providing all faculty, postdocs and graduate students with access to the resources of The National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD), an independent organization dedicated to supporting academics throughout their careers. Offering virtual resources designed by and for academics, NCFDD focuses on personal strategic planning, productivity, healthy relationships and work-life balance.

Through our Institutional Membership, all faculty, postdocs, and graduate students at Mānoa have access to the following NCFDD online resources at no cost:

  • Weekly Monday Motivator

  • Monthly Core Curriculum Webinars

  • Monthly Guest Expert Webinars

  • Access to Multi-Week Courses

  • Access to Dissertation Success Curriculum for graduate students

  • Private Discussion Forum for peer-mentoring, problem-solving, & moderated writing challenges

  • Monthly accountability buddy matches

  • Access to 14-Day Writing Challenges

  • Access to the Member Library, including past webinar materials, referrals, and readings.


These resources (some synchronous, others asynchronous) are meant to supplement the newly established Faculty Forums presented by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship and the excellent ongoing work of our Office of Faculty Development and Support (OFDAS), whose workshops and services will continue to focus on topics that more specifically engage teaching and research at this university. Participation is voluntary. As an institution, we will receive anonymized, aggregated data on use and assessment survey results.

To activate your confidential, personal membership, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to http://www.FacultyDiversity.org/Join
  2. Choose University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa from the drop-down menu
  3. Select “Activate my Membership”
  4. Complete the registration form using your hawaii.edu email
  5. Go to your hawaii.edu account to find a confirmation email. Click “Activate Account” in the confirmation email.
